Italian Wine Tasting with Produttori Di Manduria, Puglia

Our member Cellar Door Wines are Kicking off their 2023 in store tastings with a taste of Southern Italy's sun kissed Primitivo vineyards..

At the heel of Italy, Manduria is considered the birth place of the native Primitivo grape, and was officially recognised as such in the 1970s when a DOC was created for the region. However, Produttori di Manduria had been making wines for 40 years by then, unashamedly proud of their deep affection for Primitivo.

As well as making high quality examples of Puglia's most famous wine export, the co-operative is well versed in producing wonderful whites from Fiano and Verdeca. But it is with their poetically titled Elegia that the extraordinary levels of quality come to light. Made from old bush vine Primitivo of up to 50 years old, it creates a wine of intense dark berry fruit with wonderful balsamic end notes and excellent balance.

We will be tasting 6 wines from this historic winemaking business in Manduria (including the Eligia of course), focussing on Primitivo. Giovanni Dimitri is the export manager for Produttori Di Manduria and will be coming to Cellar Door Wines in St Albans to host an in store tasting for us.

Join us for a very special evening of all things Italian. Your ticket price includes delicious sharing platters of cheese, cured meats and other savoury snacks typical the Puglian region.
