We caught up with our member Esther to talk about everything dentistry.
Hi Esther, we are happy to have you as part of our community. You’ve been in dentistry for over 25 years. When did you set-up Visage Dental and what were the early years of the company like?
Hello, I set up Visage Harpenden in 2016 and I acquired Visage St. Albans in 2019. The early years were exciting and very busy, because at that time I was working clinically and running the business so there was not much rest time!
What do you think marks you apart from other Dental clinics?
We offer a spa like experience, removing those smells and typical dental deco. All our team members deliver a professional and caring service, and we are especially empathetic with our nervous patients. We have services for everyone from birth to beyond.
You offer a free consultation to customers – can you outline what a person might expect from this initial session?
These consultations are very informal and non-clinical. I will chat with my clients and find out what they are looking for and what outcomes they want to achieve. Once we have established this then I can help them organise their next appointment with the right clinician. I have knowledge on all dental services and facial aesthetics.
You have a Dental practice in both St. Albans and Harpenden. Do they differ in the services you offer at all?
They both offer all the general dental services, but Visage St. Albans also offers Dental Implants, Periodontal (gum treatment) and Cerec crows (crowns completed in 1 day digitally). We also refer from Visage Harpenden to visage St. Albans, and we have an external referral system looking after clients from other practices who need those specialist services.
You say you are privileged to have a wonderful team. Please tell us more about the Visage Dental family
I am so very lucky to work alongside some wonderful people. Some of them I have known for over 20 years through university/friends and all our newer team members are so loyal and fabulous.
Dentistry gets a bad rap sometimes as people can be nervous. What should potential clients know about modern dental approaches?
Things are so different now, the environment, the technology, team members! There is no reason to every feel in pain or uncomfortable. We have many different approaches to make things much more pleasant!
What are five things that people can do to take the best possible care of their teeth?
Floss, Floss and Floss! Brush twice a day. Eat a low sugar diet. Visit the hygienist/dentist regularly.
You run a Visage Dental blog. How do you keep connected to the latest and greatest in dentistry trends?
I am a member of a few associations & I regularly keep update with CPD.
Given you have clinics in both St. Albans and Harpenden, tell us what the perfect night would be out with your team in both locations.
We alternate been locations and go out for lovely dinners, theatre trips, shows and next year some of us are doing a sponsored walk.
