We had the pleasure of staying in one of their Mews rooms. The Mews is a particular section of the hotel that offers a unique accommodation experience. Mews often refers to converted stables or carriage houses, and in the context of Sopwell House, it denotes a set of charming and characterful accommodations within such a structure. With fireplaces, rain showers and even the option of accommodation with your own private hot tub in the garden, the Mews has you covered.

Treat yourself to a gastronomic journey where seasonal menus crafted by talented chefs showcase the finest locally sourced ingredients. For a more casual dining experience, head to The Brasserie for hearty classics and light bites in a relaxed setting. And no visit to Sopwell House would be complete without sampling their afternoon tea, served with a selection of delicate sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and decadent pastries.
Omboo at sopwell house
Omboo, located at Sopwell House is inspired by the spice routes of Asia and the Far East, serving up mouthfuls of fragrant Asian flavours.
Divided into Field, Farm and Ocean the menu offers a whole range of beautiful dishes which caters for all. There are no starters or mains when dining at Omboo, your selection of sharing platters are simply delivered to your table fresh out of the kitchen when they are ready. This is sharing at its finest. From their current menu, we can highly recommend the truffle spring rolls, duck salad, dragon rolls, scallops and the miso black cod.
Their cocktail and beverage offering has been carefully curated to compliment the Chef’s creations without getting lost in the punchy flavours that run throughout the menu. Omboo is the place to go when you want to try something a little different. When dining out requires more than just a meal, when it involves new experiences, laughter and sake shared with good friends.
The Octagon Bar
Inspired by the London cocktail scene, The Octagon Bar is the newest addition to Sopwell House. It boasts an ornate marble topped bar accompanied by leather bar stools, vintage glass backed bar, and comfortable bar seating for couples and intimate groups whilst offering views of the hotel’s picturesque front lawns.
Their talented mixologists will serve you their cocktail creations, from refreshing and fizzy, to warming and fruity; each drink telling a story of Sopwell House.
We were recommended to try the Octagon Milk Punch, which is made from Genmai-cha, citrus, wine and clarified milk and takes 24 hours to prepare. This cocktail is complex, silky (not milky), and a unique option to try. Their mixologists have extensive knowledge, and alongside their creative menu, know how to create the classic cocktails to perfection.
The Club at Cottonmill Spa
Escape the stresses of everyday life and immerse yourself in tranquillity at Sopwell House's award-winning rejuvenating spa retreat - The Club at Cottonmill. With its calming facilities, and range of treatments, the spa offers a sanctuary for relaxation.
Unwind in the heated indoor pool, soothe tired muscles in the sauna and steam rooms, or book yourself a bespoke massage or facial tailored to your specific needs. With a large array of treatment rooms, expert therapists and premium skincare products, every treatment is designed to promote holistic wellbeing and restore balance to mind, body, and spirit. This is a gorgeous place to rest and enjoy their state-of-the-art facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool, steam rooms, and saunas.
For access to The Club at Cottonmill facilities, you must be booked on a Club Spa Day or Club Spa Break, be a Club member or be a guest in their Mews suites.
Sopwell House also offer a second spa area - Cottonmill, which all hotel residents receive complimentary access to. Cottonmill facilities includes use of the indoor pool, two vitality pools, a state-of-the-art gym featuring the latest Technogym ‘Artis’ line equipment, classes taken in the new energising studio, sauna, steam room, poolside terrace and sitting room. If you opt to have a treatment, guests are invited to rest in their lovely Rose Relaxation Room.

There are regular direct trains from London St Pancras to St. Albans with only a 5 minute transfer by car to the hotel and London Luton airport is around 20 minutes by car.
