David Butler Coaching, hertfordshire

We interviewed our member David of David Butler Coaching to find out more about being a business coach and how he can help you.

Hi David, thanks for chatting with us today. We’re very glad to have you as part of the We Are St. Albans community. You are a business coach. In a nutshell, can you please tell our readers about your company’s expertise?

Hi there, it’s a pleasure chatting with you. My company DBL Consulting, helps business owners in Hertfordshire create and build their ideal life through their business. Helping to understand what the business needs to do to deliver their ideal life. Helping business owners and entrepreneurs to run their business for the best outcomes.

What are your techniques in working with SMEs in Hertfordshire?

Get to know the person and the business – relationships are key.

1. Get complete clarity on what it is they want and why (where they want to be)
2. Understand the numbers and what needs to happen to deliver the ideal life.
3. Set clear goals, targets, and timelines.
4. Deliver the sales and marketing plan to support the goals,
5. Monitor and track.

If you don't know where you're going how can you possibly get there. When you build a house, you don't start with the foundations like everyone thinks. You start with what it looks like when it's finished.

How did your journey into Business Coaching start?

I have been in sales, sales management, coaching and mentoring for over 30 years. I love helping people and companies achieve their dreams. I love what I do and always had a dream of doing what I am doing now for myself.

What do you love about your profession?

Helping people achieve their dreams and goals. They are always closer than you think.

What core pieces of advice would you give local SMEs on their path to success?

Understand what you want and why and have a strategic PLAN to deliver your goals and targets. It’s the thinking that will help the doing in your business. Write it down and don’t compromise on it. They are always closer than you think but YOU MUST HAVE A PLAN.

Do you think that the region of Hertfordshire is a particularly easy place to start a thriving business?

Hertfordshire is a great place to start a business, however starting and running a business can be tough and lonely. Having some to help you, guide you and challenge you can be a massive advantage. Every sportsperson, actor etc have a coach. Why not every business owner? I am a coach and I have one.

Your new website is yet to be unveiled (watch this space!), can you tell us anything about the new site and the way you like to market yourself?

I am going through a complete re-brand which is exciting, it going to be more about my personal brand, rather than the company!!

Are you from the area, and do you like anything specifically about living here?

I live in Nash Mills, next to Kings Langley. I have lived here all my life and love the area, community, and people.

Looking at local businesses, are there any that really stand out for you?

The ones I provide coaching for!

When you’re with friends or family, what do you enjoy doing in the local area?

I enjoy running, fishing, walking, and socialising with friends as well as being an U14 football coach for Kings Langley Football Club.
