Wines of Wellington, South Africa with Diemersfontein and Andreas Estates

This is a fantastic South African tasting event not to be missed - there will be two guest speakers and wines from two estates in the Wellington wine region of the Western Cape. David Sonnenberg, owner of Diemersfontein Wine and Country Estate and Shaun Meyeridricks, winemaker at Andreas Wine Estate will be joining us to tell us their wine stories.

Since 1942 the Sonnenberg family have been running the iconic Diemersfontein Estate in Wellington. What started as a family retreat, is today the home of the world-class Diemersfontein range of wines, countryside hospitality, and a successful empowerment project. We will be tasting two Cellar Door favourites with David - The Coffee Pinotage and Diemersfontein Chenin Blanc.

Nestling in the Bovlei Valley, just outside Wellington, is the Andreas Wine Estate - a hidden gem comprising 4.5 hectares of vineyards, an elegant eighteenth-century house and lush gardens.

Long, hot summer days, cooled by late afternoon breezes, chilly, wet winters and sandy and loamy soils combine to provide the perfect terroir for Andreas’ award-winning Syrah - the only grape they grow .

In 2015 the estate was acquired by a group of U.K. wine enthusiasts under the banner of Andreas Wine Trading. (One of these owners is from St Albans!) Their ambition is to build on the heritage and reputation of the estate and its wine, taking both to new levels of excellence. Shaun will be talking us through his award winning Shiraz and telling us all about this beautiful estate.

Don't miss out - book your ticket asap!
